Camping at Holden Farm
Our campsite is a traditional campsite for tents. We provide excellent clean facilities including spotless flushing loos, hot showers and washing up facilities. The major unique point of Holden Farm is the space – space for children to run around safely and space so you don’t find yourself camping on top of your neighbour. Your stay with us will be a real camping experience in the countryside; you will be able to experience nature at its best and watch the farm at work. We will always have space for those walking the South Downs Way.
The campsite is situated in a very large grass field with plenty of space for children to play. There are no designated pitches, the field contains 20 fire pits which you are able to book. If you do not want a firepit – book a pitch without one! On the booking system we have a maximum of 8 people per pitch. If you are a group of more than 8 people, you can book one pitch with a fire pit and the other without so you are next to each other, please mention the name of your friends on your booking to help is out.
On arrival you choose where to camp – this can be near the facilities or over 200m away.
We have modern camping facilities on-site, clean flushing loos, hot showers and good washing facilities. We are so pleased to be able to offer you these facilities but please can we remind you that we are in a rural area; this means a septic tank so think before you flush – no baby wipes or elephant roll down the loo please! The space at Holden Farm is wonderful but it has meant that the locks on the loo doors are set high on the inside of the door out of the reach of children – this is to ensure no child gets locked in.
There is a communal fridge and separate freezer as well as charging points for a hair dryer and mobile phone. We try to offer as much information as possible for campers but please do some research before getting here as mobile reception is not that good. The camping office is open from 4pm to 7pm.
We encourage you to use the designated fire pits for sitting round and enjoying toasted marshmallows and their warmth; please do not use the fire pits to cook – this encourages vermin on the scrounge! We have bricks on site for you to borrow for your disposable BBQ. Logs can be purchased on site from the camping office.
We are a working farm and therefore we ask you to respect that. Please ensure you pick up all litter and use the bins provided. Dogs must be kept on leads as chickens are free range. Occasionally, during particularly hot periods, there is a risk of crops catching fire, so we may ask you to refrain from having campfires. Our livestock often move around the farm and you may wish to help; if you are here for such an opportunity we welcome all assistance but please follow instructions. During the summer months the farm is full of activity with Harvest – watch out for farm machinery! Please leave no trace as after the season the field returns to a home for our sheep.
